Position: Bookkeeper & Grant Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Supervises: 2 Full time operations staff

Salary: $60,000-$70,000 DOE

Basic function:  The Bookkeeper and Grant Manager ensures smooth functioning of the agency finances.   Ensures that the NW Network is “audit ready” at all levels. Monitors organizational compliance with all government and foundation contract requirements. Ensures smooth back-office operations through the supervision of operations staff.

o   Responsible for integrity of all accounting and bookkeeping processes ensures compliance with GAAP. Ensures accuracy of the general ledger, accounting records of all expenditures and revenues, invoice payments, reconciliations, restricted funds, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

o   Responsible for compliance with all Grant awards. Allocates costs ensuring efficient, accurate and compliant grant coding of expenditures and revenues to the appropriate awards.

o   Compiles and analyzes financial and expense data needed for accurate and compliant grant reporting. Submits grant reports in timely manner. Works with program directors to submit program data.

o   Prepares monthly budget reports for the Board of Directors and Executive.  Makes presentations as needed.

o   Prepares annual budget, monitors results and makes financial projections.

o   Prepares budgets for grant proposals.

o   Coordinates annual financial audit and 990 reports, interface with CPA firm, prepare processes as well as ensure general audit readiness.

o   Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government contract and grant award and financial reporting requirements. Maintain positive relationships with contract monitors.

o   Supervises Operations team ensuring back-office efficiency including, but not limited to: managing IT, financial development support, HR processing, lease agreements, operation procedures, payroll, benefits, vendor agreements and general admin support.

o   Participate in management team with program managers and Executive Director.

o   Other duties as necessary to achieve the basic function of this position.

Desired Qualifications:

o   High-level strategic understanding of movements or community change.

o   Commitment to the mission values and aspirations of the NW Network.

o   Understanding of the LGBTQ community in a social justice context.

o   3 -5 years of management level responsibilities within a non-profit organization as well as knowledge of generally accepted accounting and grant contract compliance principles.

o   A tactical thinker who works with accuracy and who meets deadlines and exacting standards.

o   Ability to lead a team, build staff understanding and participation.

o   Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of the QuickBooks accounting software.
